O how ambitious is my Soul,
\nHow high she now aspires!
\nThere’s nothing can on Earth controul,
\nOr limit her Desires.<\/p>\n

Upon the Wings of Thought she flies
\nAbove the reach of Sight,
\nAnd finds a way thro’ pathless Skies
\nTo everlasting Light.<\/p>\n

From whence with blameless Scorn she views
\nThe Follies of Mankind;
\nAnd smiles to see how each pursues
\nJoys fleeting as the Wind.<\/p>\n

Yonder’s the little Ball of Earth,
\nIt lessens as I rise;
\nThat Stage of transitory Mirth,
\nOf lasting Miseries:<\/p>\n
5.<\/p>\n
My Scorn does into Pity turn,
\nAnd I lament the Fate
\nOf Souls, that still in Bodies mourn,
\nFor Faults which they create:<\/p>\n

Souls without Spot, till Flesh they wear,
\nWhich their pure Substance stains:
\nWhile thy th’uneasie Burthen bear,
\nThey’re never free from Pains.<\/p>\n
